1. Acceptance of Terms
By installing, accessing, or using LinkTransparency (the "Extension"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use the Extension.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Firmis Labs ("we," "us," or "our"). Your use of the Extension is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
2. Description of Service
LinkTransparency is a browser extension that provides URL transparency tools, including:
- Revealing the destination of shortened URLs (bit.ly, t.co, etc.)
- Displaying redirect chains to show intermediate hops
- Identifying and stripping tracking parameters from URLs
- Providing clean URLs without tracking parameters
Important: LinkTransparency is a transparency tool, not a security product. We do not:
- Guarantee that any link is safe or malicious
- Provide malware scanning or threat detection
- Verify the legitimacy or safety of destinations
- Prevent phishing, scams, or fraudulent websites
3. User Responsibilities
When using LinkTransparency, you agree to:
- Use at your own risk: Evaluate all links yourself before clicking. We provide information, not safety guarantees.
- Comply with laws: Use the Extension in compliance with all applicable local, state, national, and international laws and regulations.
- Respect rate limits: Do not attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with rate limiting or security features.
- No automated abuse: Do not use bots, scripts, or automated tools to make excessive requests to our API.
- No reverse engineering: Do not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Extension or our API, except as permitted by law.
- Report issues responsibly: If you discover security vulnerabilities, contact us at ritesh@firmislabs.com before public disclosure.
4. Acceptable Use Policy
You may NOT use LinkTransparency to:
- Test or scan URLs that you do not have permission to access
- Perform security testing on third-party systems without authorization
- Overload or disrupt our API infrastructure
- Collect data about other users or their browsing habits
- Violate any person's privacy or intellectual property rights
- Distribute malware, spam, or illegal content
- Impersonate or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity
5. Intellectual Property
LinkTransparency and all related content, features, and functionality are owned by Firmis Labs and are protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Extension for personal, non-commercial purposes. This license does not include:
- The right to resell, redistribute, or sublicense the Extension
- The right to modify, adapt, or create derivative works
- The right to use our trademarks, logos, or branding without permission
Open Source: We plan to release LinkTransparency's source code under an open source license in the future. When released, the terms of that license will apply to the source code.
6. Disclaimers
6.1 No Security Guarantees
LinkTransparency is NOT a security tool. We provide transparency about URL destinations and tracking parameters, but we do not:
- Verify that links are safe to click
- Detect malware, phishing, or scams
- Guarantee the accuracy or completeness of link information
- Protect you from malicious websites
Always exercise caution when clicking links, even after using LinkTransparency.
6.2 Service Availability
The Extension is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. We do not guarantee that:
- The Extension will be available at all times or without interruption
- The Extension will be error-free or bug-free
- All shortened URLs will be successfully resolved
- Our API will respond to all requests
- The Extension will work with all websites or browsers
6.3 Third-Party Links and Content
LinkTransparency displays information about third-party URLs and websites. We are not responsible for:
- The content, accuracy, or legality of third-party websites
- The privacy practices of destination websites
- Any harm caused by visiting links revealed by the Extension
7. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FIRMIS LABS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY:
- Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill
- Service interruptions or delays
- Damage caused by visiting links revealed by the Extension
- Damage caused by malware, phishing, or malicious websites
- Errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in the information provided
This limitation applies even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations of liability. In such cases, our liability will be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
8. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Firmis Labs and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:
- Your use or misuse of the Extension
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights
- Your violation of applicable laws or regulations
9. Termination
We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the Extension at any time, without notice, for any reason, including:
- Violation of these Terms
- Abuse of the service or API
- Fraudulent or illegal activity
- Excessive automated requests
You may terminate your use of the Extension at any time by uninstalling it from your browser.
Upon termination:
- Your license to use the Extension immediately ends
- Local data stored by the Extension will remain on your device until you remove it
- Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive (including disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnification) will continue to apply
10. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or service features. When we make changes:
- We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
- For material changes, we will post a notice in the Extension popup
- Your continued use after changes indicates acceptance of the new Terms
We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.
11. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Extension shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Bangalore, India.
Before filing any formal legal action, we encourage you to contact us at ritesh@firmislabs.com to resolve disputes informally.
12. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable.
13. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Firmis Labs regarding the Extension. They supersede all prior or contemporaneous communications, agreements, or understandings, whether written or oral.
14. No Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of those rights. Any waiver must be in writing and signed by an authorized representative of Firmis Labs.

16. Additional Terms for Store Users
Chrome Web Store Users
If you install LinkTransparency from the Chrome Web Store, you are also subject to Google's Chrome Web Store Program Policies.
Firefox Add-ons Users
If you install LinkTransparency from Firefox Add-ons, you are also subject to Mozilla's Add-on Distribution Agreement.
By using LinkTransparency, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.
