These websites require copy-paste and tab switching. LinkTransparency works inline on any page โ hover, click, see the destination without leaving.
Privacy Badger blocks third-party trackers but doesn't reveal link destinations. LinkTransparency focuses on transparency: showing you where links lead before you click.
Marketing and analytics trackers stripped from your URLs
What are these? These parameters are added to URLs by marketers to track which links you clicked, where you came from, and what campaigns led you to a page. Removing them gives you cleaner URLs to share.
The magnifying glass appears automatically on these link types

ClearURLs passively strips tracking from URLs in the background but cannot expand shortened links or show you where they lead. Link Transparency does both: it reveals destinations AND removes trackers, with a visual interface that shows you exactly what was found.

LinkTransparency automatically strips tracking parameters when you preview any link. Click the magnifying glass icon on any shortened URL to see which parameters will be removed (like utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, fbclid, gclid). Then copy the clean URL without trackers.
fbclid is Facebook Click ID โ a tracking parameter Facebook adds to outbound links. It lets Facebook track which links you clicked, even after you leave their site. Removing it from URLs you share prevents this tracking and keeps your links clean.
gclid is Google Click ID โ a tracking parameter from Google Ads. It connects your clicks to advertising campaigns and follows you across websites. Stripping it from shared links prevents Google from tracking your activity through those URLs.
Yes, LinkTransparency is safe for affiliate links. We only strip advertising and marketing trackers, not affiliate parameters. Our "Referral Info" filter (disabled by default) is the only one that could affect affiliate payouts. Normal usage won't break affiliate functionality.
Yes, the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+L (or Cmd+Shift+L on Mac) opens a quick preview panel for any link. You can also right-click any link and select "Inspect with LinkTransparency" from the context menu.
URL shorteners like bit.ly and t.co were created to save characters (especially on Twitter). But they also hide where links actually go, which can be used to obscure tracking redirects, misleading destinations, or multiple hop chains through ad networks. LinkTransparency reveals all of this before you click.
